Ingredients for Chicken Samosas
Dough Ingredients:
- 2 cups of white flour.
- 1 teaspoon of instant yeast.
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Filling Ingredients:
- 300 grams of cleaned chicken breast.
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
- 1 onion, finely chopped.
- 3 cloves of crushed garlic.
- 1 teaspoon of curry powder.
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric.
- 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger.
- 1 teaspoon of white pepper.
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper.
- 1 cup of boiled peas.
- 1 cup of canned corn.
- 1 cup of chopped mushrooms.
- 1/4 cup of grated carrots.
- Salt to taste.
For Frying:
- 3 cups of vegetable oil.
Preparation Steps for Chicken Samosas
Preparing the Dough:
- Sift the white flour, yeast, and salt into a suitable bowl.
- Create a well in the center of the mixture and add the vegetable oil and a suitable amount of water.
- Mix and knead the ingredients until a soft, cohesive dough is formed. Add water as needed.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rest until it doubles in size.
Preparing the Filling:
- Place the chicken breast in a suitable pot and cover it with water. Add salt and black pepper, cover the pot, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Drain the chicken, let it cool slightly, and cut it into strips.
- In a pan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion until it softens. Add the garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the turmeric, curry powder, white pepper, black pepper, and salt, stirring to combine.
- Add the chicken pieces, cooking for 2 minutes while stirring.
- Incorporate the mushrooms, peas, corn, and grated carrots, stirring until all ingredients are cooked through. Remove the filling from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Assembling the Samosas:
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into medium-sized circles.
- Place 2 tablespoons of filling on one side of each circle. Fold the other side over the filling to create a semi-circle. Seal the edges by pressing them firmly together.
- Heat the frying oil in a deep pot. Fry the samosas until they are golden brown and fully cooked.
