  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, diced.
  • 2 cups of drinking water.
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric.
  • Black pepper to taste.

How to Prepare Kuwaiti Qouboot

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Mix the white flour with ½ cup of drinking water, a pinch of black pepper, and salt. Knead the ingredients into a dough ball.
  2. Sprinkle with flour, cover, and set aside in a bowl for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  1. Heat a suitable pot with vegetable oil. Add half the raisins and chopped onions, sautéing until the onions change color.
  2. Sprinkle the mixture with ground loomi, black pepper, and salt. Stir well, then remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3: Form the Dough Balls

  1. Roll the dough out on a floured surface. Shape into small balls, flatten them, and stuff with the onion-raisin mixture.
  2. Seal the dough balls and place them on a floured baking tray.

Step 4: Prepare the Base

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pot. Sauté the remaining onions with the minced garlic until softened.
