Shrimp Machboos – Recipe for Preparing Shrimp Machboos – Cooking Instruction
Shrimp Machboos is one of the many ways to prepare Machboos, and this dish is distinguished by its delicious flavor and high nutritional value. In this recipe, we will provide the ingredients for four people along with the preparation method, hoping that you enjoy this dish from the Gulf cuisine.
Ingredients for Shrimp Machboos:
For Preparing the Shrimp:
- 1 kg of cleaned shrimp
- Water (as needed to cover the shrimp)
- 2 dried limes
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cardamom pods
- ¼ teaspoon of ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon of Gulf spices
- Salt to taste
For the Machboos:
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ¼ cup of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of Gulf spices
- 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons of oil
- 1 green hot pepper, sliced lengthwise
- 1 large tomato, finely chopped
- ½ cup of fresh coriander
- 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom
- 3 cups of washed and drained rice
- ½ teaspoon of saffron
- ¼ cup of rose water
For Garnishing:
- Pine nuts (as desired)
- Sliced lemon (as desired)
- Sliced tomatoes (as desired)
- Fresh coriander (as desired)
Method for Preparing Shrimp Machboos:
Preparing the Shrimp:
- Place the shrimp in a suitable pot on high heat and cover it with water.
- Add the cardamom pods, dried limes, cinnamon stick, garlic, Gulf spices, and turmeric. Let the mixture boil for a minute, then add salt and let it simmer for another minute.
- Remove from the heat and set the shrimp aside. Keep the broth for later use.
Preparing the Machboos:
- Mix the rose water with saffron in a small bowl and set aside.
- Heat oil in a suitable pot over medium heat, and add the onion, green hot pepper, and garlic. Stir until the onion softens.
- Add the Gulf spices, salt, and ground cardamom. Stir the mixture well.
- Add the chopped tomato, ginger, and coriander, and mix everything until well combined.
- Pour in the lemon juice and stir again.
- Let the mixture cook for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes soften.
- Add the washed and drained rice to the pot and stir gently until it mixes with the other ingredients.
- Pour the shrimp broth into the pot and cover it. Let it boil, then reduce the heat.
- Leave the mixture on low heat for 15 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
- Add the shrimp pieces to the pot and gently mix them with the other ingredients.
- Pour the saffron mixture over the ingredients. Your Shrimp Machboos is ready! Serve it in a suitable dish and garnish with pine nuts, lemon slices, tomato slices, or fresh coriander, as desired. Serve it to your family or guests for a delicious and healthy meal.
