Baklava Fingers

  • 500 grams of baklava dough
  • 1 cup of melted butter

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup of crushed hazelnuts
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

For the Syrup (Qatar):

  • 2 cups of white sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

How to Prepare Baklava Fingers:

1. Prepare the Syrup (Qatar):

  • In a suitable pot, combine the white sugar and water. Place the pot on the stove and let it boil.
  • Once it starts to boil, add the lemon juice, orange blossom water, rose water, and vanilla extract. Let it simmer until the syrup thickens slightly.
  • Once the syrup has reached the desired consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • In a bowl, mix the honey with the crushed hazelnuts until they are well combined. The filling is now ready.

3. Assemble the Baklava Fingers:

  • Lay out a sheet of baklava dough on a flat surface (like a table or a clean countertop).
  • Place a suitable amount of the hazelnut filling along one edge of the dough sheet, lengthwise.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a cylindrical shape around the filling.
  • After rolling, cut the dough into medium-sized pieces to form individual fingers.
  • Arrange the baklava fingers side by side in a baking dish that has been lightly greased with melted butter. Repeat this process until all the dough and filling are used up.

4. Baking the Baklava:

  • Brush the tops of the baklava fingers with the remaining melted butter.
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Once it reaches the required temperature, place the baking dish in the oven.
  • Bake the baklava for about 20–25 minutes, or until it turns golden brown.

5. Add the Syrup:

  • Once the baklava fingers are baked, remove the dish from the oven. While the baklava is still hot, pour the cold syrup over it.
  • Let the baklava cool down before serving.

6. Serve:

  • Once the baklava has cooled, transfer it to a serving plate.
  • Serve it to your family or guests, and enjoy its delightful taste!

Baklava fingers are a delicious treat that combines the crispness of the dough with the sweetness of the syrup and the richness of the hazelnut filling. Perfect for any occasion! Enjoy with a hot cup of tea or coffee.
