  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of strawberry jam
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

How to Prepare Mabrousha:

  1. Sift the all-purpose flour and place it in a large bowl. Add the baking powder and vanilla, and mix the ingredients well until fully combined.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and white sugar until well combined.

  3. Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Knead the ingredients together until the mixture resembles coarse sand.

  4. Gradually add the egg and sugar mixture to the flour and butter, continuing to knead until a soft, smooth dough forms.

  5. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Wrap one portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 60 minutes.

  6. Grease a baking tray with a little oil and dust it with some flour.

  7. Roll out the first half of the dough (the portion that was not refrigerated) and spread it evenly at the bottom of the baking tray.

  8. Spread an even layer of strawberry jam over the dough, covering it completely.

  9. Remove the second portion of dough from the refrigerator and roll it out. Place it evenly over the strawberry jam, covering the entire surface.

  10. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Once the oven reaches the desired temperature, bake the Mabrousha for about 30 minutes, keeping an eye on the top to ensure it turns golden brown.
