Fish Marinade:
- 1 kg fish, cut into thick slices
- 1 lemon (juiced)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 3 tablespoons of Adeni pepper mix
For the Sauce:
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium potato, sliced thinly
- 1 medium onion, sliced thinly
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 3 small green peppers
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 chicken bouillon cube
- 1/2 cup of spicy Basbas Aden (hot spice mix)
- 1 1/2 cups water
How to Prepare Mutfaya Al-Samak Al-Adaniya:
Marinate the Fish:
Mix the fish slices with salt, lemon juice, ground cumin, and Adeni pepper mix. Let the fish marinate for 10 minutes.Fry the Fish:
Heat oil in a suitable pan and fry the fish slices on all sides until cooked through. Once done, set the fish aside.Prepare the Sauce:
In the same pan with the remaining oil, add the sliced potatoes and sauté for about 5 minutes. Next, add the minced garlic and onion slices and sauté together for another 3 minutes. Then, add the green peppers, tomato paste, chopped cilantro, curry powder, chopped tomatoes, Basbas Aden, chicken bouillon cube, and water. Mix everything well and bring it to a boil.Simmer:
After it boils, lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until all the ingredients are cooked through.Combine Fish with Sauce:
