Pasta with Meat and Yogurt – Recipe for Pasta with Meat and Yogurt

Pasta with meat and yogurt is one of the finest and most popular main dishes, known for its quick and easy preparation, elegant appearance, and delicious taste. This dish is widely recognized in Syrian cuisine.

There are many variations of pasta dishes, depending on the preferred ingredients in each cuisine. Some well-known types include garlic and yogurt pasta, chicken and sauce pasta, spicy pasta, and pasta with meat and yogurt.


Ingredients for Pasta with Meat and Yogurt:

Pasta with Meat and Yogurt

 

  • 1 pack of pasta
  • 1 kg of lamb meat
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee or 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons of white pepper
  • 2 kg of yogurt
  • 2 medium-sized onions
  • ¼ cup of chopped mint

How to Prepare Pasta with Meat and Yogurt:

Cooking the Pasta:

  1. Fill a deep pot with 3 liters of water and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Add a little vegetable oil and a tablespoon of salt.
  3. Drop the pasta into the boiling water and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
  4. Drain the cooked pasta using a strainer, rinse immediately with cold water, and set aside to remove excess moisture.

Preparing the Meat Mixture:

  1. In a deep cooking pot, add the fresh minced lamb, a pinch of salt, and about 1.5 cups of water.
  2. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes until the meat is tender.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions and stir well, allowing the mixture to cook until the water evaporates completely.
  4. Pour in the oil, black pepper, and white pepper, then stir until the onions soften.

Preparing the Yogurt Mixture:

  1. In a deep bowl, place the yogurt and add a suitable amount of water.
  2. Stir well until the yogurt and water blend into a smooth mixture.
  3. Gradually pour the yogurt mixture into the meat and onion mixture, stirring continuously to ensure even mixing.
  4. Keep stirring in the same direction until the mixture begins to boil.

Final Cooking:

  1. Add the boiled pasta to the mixture and stir well.
  2. Reduce the heat slightly and let the pasta simmer in the yogurt sauce for 15 minutes until fully cooked.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and transfer the dish to a serving plate.
  4. Garnish the edges of the plate with chopped mint and sprinkle some of the cooked minced meat on top.

Serving:

  • Serve the dish warm or slightly hot for a rich and comforting meal.
