Qudrat Qadir Cake – Recipe & Cooking Guide
Qudrat Qadir cake is one of the finest and most delicious desserts, originally from Palestinian cuisine.
This dessert is a unique combination of cake and caramel custard, making it a rich and indulgent treat.
Qudrat Qadir is high in calories and can be found in pastry shops or bakeries. However, it can also be prepared at home, though it requires careful attention to detail and patience.
Ingredients for Qudrat Qadir Cake:
To make this delicious and flavorful cake, follow these steps:
First Layer (Caramel Layer):
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
Second Layer (Caramel Custard Layer):
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups of powdered milk
- A little grated lemon zest
- A pinch of salt
- 3 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons of vanilla powder
Third Layer (Vanilla Cake Layer):
- 1 ½ cups of flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
- ½ cup of liquid milk
- 2 tablespoons of baking powder
- ½ cup of vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
How to Prepare Qudrat Qadir Cake:

Prepare the Caramel Layer:
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice.
- Stir until the mixture turns into a golden caramel.
- Pour the caramel into the cake mold and set aside.

Prepare the Caramel Custard Layer:
- In a blender, mix eggs, vanilla, and lemon zest until well combined.
- Gradually add powdered milk and sugar while continuing to blend.
- Pour in the water and lemon juice, blending for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully pour this mixture over the caramel layer in the cake mold.

Prepare the Cake Layer:
- In the same blender, mix eggs, sugar, and lemon zest until fluffy.
- Add vanilla powder and continue mixing.
- Sift the flour and mix it with cocoa powder (if desired), baking powder, and baking soda.
- Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients while mixing for about 10 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the liquid milk while maintaining the same mixing direction for another 10 minutes.

Assembling & Baking the Cake:
- Gently pour the cake batter over the caramel and custard layers in the mold.
- Place the cake mold in a water bath inside a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F).
- Bake for approximately 1 hour.

- Once fully baked, remove the cake from the oven and place it in the refrigerator for 5 hours.
- Carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate and return it to the fridge for another hour.
- Serve chilled with a cup of coffee.
