Meat Sambousek

To prepare a delicious plate of sambousek, you will need:

  • 1 kilogram of fresh ground meat

  • 2 finely chopped onions

  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper

  • 4 cups of flour

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of warm water

  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil

How to Prepare the Sambousek Dough:

Place the flour in a large bowl, add the salt and a little oil, and mix well.

Gradually add the warm water while stirring continuously until you achieve a soft but firm dough.

Cover the dough and let it rest for about 15 minutes.

How to Prepare the Sambousek Filling:

Place the fresh ground meat into a saucepan over low heat. Add 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of salt, cover the pan, and let it simmer gently for about 15 minutes.

Add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil and a sprinkle of black pepper to the meat mixture, stirring well.

Then add the finely chopped onions and sauté everything over low heat until the filling is fully cooked and fragrant.

Assembly and Cooking:

Roll out portions of the dough on a flat surface dusted lightly with flour.

Using a cutter, cut the dough into oval-shaped pieces.

Place a spoonful of the meat filling onto each dough piece, then fold the dough over and seal the edges tightly.

Place the filled sambousek pieces onto a floured tray and continue until all the dough and filling are used.

Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Lightly coat each sambousek with flour, then carefully lower them into the hot oil.

Allow the sambousek pieces to fry without stirring until the sides start to turn golden. Then gently flip them to ensure they cook evenly to a uniform golden color.

Once cooked, remove the sambousek from the oil and place them onto a serving dish.

Garnish the platter with some fresh vegetables and a scattering of nuts around the edges for an elegant presentation.

Your delicious sambousek is now ready to be served hot and enjoyed
