Ingredients for Moussaka (Serves 5):
-
1 large eggplant, peeled, salted, and fried

1 cup cooking cream
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation Method:
-
Prepare the meat sauce:
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the ground lamb until it starts to brown. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent. -
Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, ginger, and mixed spices. Stir until the flavors combine and the meat is fully cooked.

Blend the tomatoes with the tomato paste and add to the meat mixture. Cook until the sauce starts to boil, then add the chopped parsley and simmer for about 5 minutes.
-
Assemble the dish:
In a baking dish, arrange a layer of the fried potato slices. Spread a layer of the meat-tomato mixture over the potatoes. Then add a layer of fried eggplant slices. Top with the remaining meat mixture. -
Pour the cooking cream over the top layer, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
-
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the moussaka for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling. -
Serve:
Let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy this comforting, richly layered Greek dish with family or guests.
