Ingredients for Spicy Sea Bream with Marinara Sauce (Serves 4):

Spicy Sea Bream with Marinara Sauce

  • 500 grams of fish fillet (preferably sea bream)

  • 3 liters of water

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 50 grams of finely chopped celery

  • 50 grams of finely chopped carrots

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste

  • 400 grams of diced tomatoes

  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon of crushed dried thyme

  • 1/4 cup hot water

  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes

  • 450 grams of large shell pasta

  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Preparation Method:

  1. Cook the fish:
In a medium pot, add the fish fillets, water, and bay leaves. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about 10 minutes until the fish is fully cooked. Remove the fish and set aside.

  2. Make the marinara sauce:
In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the chopped onion until soft. Add the celery, carrots, garlic, and tomato paste. Stir and cook for about 3 minutes.

  3. Add the diced tomatoes, basil, thyme, hot water, and bouillon cubes. Stir everything together and let the sauce simmer gently for 25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and thicken.

  4. Once the sauce is ready, add the cooked fish back into the pot. Stir gently to break the fish into chunks and coat it evenly with the sauce.

  5. Prepare the pasta:
In a separate pot, boil the large shell pasta in salted water until just shy of fully cooked (al dente). Drain, toss with olive oil to prevent sticking, and set aside.

  6. Combine and serve:
In a large serving dish, mix the pasta with the warm marinara-fish sauce until fully coated. Serve immediately while hot, allowing the bold, spicy flavors to shine.

This dish delivers the perfect harmony of sea and garden—flaky fish, vibrant vegetables, and a tomato base that comforts and satisfies with every bite. Ideal for a family dinner that feels both elegant and heartwarming.
