Chicken Zinger is a dish that gained widespread popularity in Western countries, where it originally emerged, before making its way into the Arab world through fast food chains specializing in crispy, spicy chicken. What makes the Zinger special is its unique flavor and the crispy outer layer that sets it apart from regular fried chicken.

For the Chicken:

  • 1 kg boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

For the Zinger Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon corn starch

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon hot red chili powder (optional, to taste)

  • 1 medium egg

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon powdered milk

  • Vegetable oil for frying


How to Prepare Chicken Zinger:

Start by cutting the chicken breasts into evenly sized pieces.

In a bowl, mix white pepper, salt, red chili powder, and mustard to create a marinade. Add the chicken pieces to the mixture and toss thoroughly until well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour so the flavors can deeply infuse the meat.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and set aside.

In another bowl, combine the flour, corn starch, baking powder, chili powder, salt, and powdered milk.

Pour a generous amount of vegetable oil into a deep frying pan and heat it over high heat.

Remove the marinated chicken from the fridge. Dip each piece first in the beaten egg, then coat it thoroughly in the flour mixture.

Carefully lower the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry them until golden brown and crispy on all sides. This usually takes several minutes per side depending on the thickness. Once the exterior is golden and the chicken is cooked through, remove them from the oil.

Place the cooked Zinger pieces on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Finally, serve the crispy chicken Zinger alongside French fries. Add a side of pickles, salad, or your favorite dipping sauce. It also pairs well with cold juice or soda.
