Chocolate Scones – A Delicious Western Pastry – Easy Recipe Guide

Chocolate scones are a delightful baked treat originating from Western cuisine, cherished for their rich flavor and tender texture. They're especially popular during gatherings, visits, and special occasions, making them a staple for home bakers who want to impress guests with something warm, sweet, and satisfying.

These scones are not just delicious—they also pack a punch of energy due to their calorie content. When consumed in moderation, they offer nutritional benefits as well. Thanks to ingredients like eggs, cream, and chocolate, chocolate scones contain essential vitamins like B and C that support the immune system. They’re also rich in minerals such as iron, which helps prevent anemia, and calcium, which strengthens bones and teeth. Moreover, antioxidants in chocolate promote heart health and enhance brain function.

Ingredients (Serves 4):

Chocolate Scones

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 2¼ teaspoons baking powder

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • ¾ cup heavy cream

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups chopped or melted chocolate

How to Prepare Chocolate Scones:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Stir until well blended.

Add the butter and use your fingertips to rub it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.

Add the chopped or melted chocolate and gently fold into the dough until fully incorporated. The dough should be cohesive but not overmixed.

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round disk.

Cut the disk into equal-sized triangles using a sharp knife or pastry cutter.

Place the scone triangles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a bit of space between each.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (about 400°F) and bake the scones for approximately 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with coffee, tea, or on their own to enjoy their indulgent chocolatey goodness.

Bon appétit!
