Ingredients for Light Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Sauce (Serves 8):

Light Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Sauce

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • ⅓ cup of cocoa powder

  • ½ cup of vegetable oil

  • 1 cup of yogurt

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 cup of water

For the Chocolate Sauce:

  • 50 grams of butter

  • ¼ cup of sugar

  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder

  • 1 can of cream (such as Nestlé or any thick cooking cream)

How to Make Light Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Sauce:

Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a cake pan with oil and dust it with a light layer of flour to prevent sticking.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder. Mix well until the dry ingredients are fully blended.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Once smooth, add in the yogurt and water. Continue to whisk until you have a creamy, homogenous mixture.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring as you go until the batter is fully smooth and slightly thick.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake in the oven for about 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once done, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely.

While the cake is cooling, prepare the chocolate sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and cocoa powder, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Remove from heat, then add the cream and mix well until fully incorporated. Let it cool slightly to thicken.

Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate sauce generously over the top, letting it drip down the sides for a beautiful finish.

Serve as is, or with a dusting of powdered sugar or fresh berries for a delightful contrast. This cake is soft, rich, and comforting—perfect for both casual gatherings and special moments.
