Not only are these wings full of flavor, but they’re also packed with nutrients. They deliver essential proteins, minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, and sodium, and contain antioxidants that support heart health and energy levels.
Ingredients (Serves 6):
-
1 kg chicken wings, cleaned
-
1 onion, finely chopped
-
1 tablespoon dried oregano
-
1 teaspoon mixed spices
-
2 teaspoons white pepper
-
2 green onions (scallions)
-
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
2 green bell peppers
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 teaspoon salt
How to Make Mexican Chicken Wings:
Step 1: Prepare the Marinade
In a food processor, blend the onion, oregano, mixed spices, cinnamon (if included), white pepper, nutmeg, green bell pepper, salt, and olive oil. Blend until you get a smooth, thick marinade.
Pour the marinade into a large bowl. Add the chopped green onions, then place the chicken wings into the bowl and toss thoroughly until each piece is well-coated.
Cover and refrigerate the wings for at least 3 hours to let them absorb all the flavors.
Step 2: Bake the Wings
Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
Arrange the marinated chicken wings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or lightly greased.
Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and golden brown, flipping once halfway through for even cooking.
Step 3: Serve
Remove the wings from the oven and serve hot. They pair wonderfully with green salads, Mexican rice, or corn on the cob. Add a side of lime wedges or a cool yogurt dip for balance.
These wings are juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and bursting with the bold flavors of Mexico.
Buen provecho!
