  • 1 cup of plain yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon of vinegar

  • 3 cups of whipped cream (for frosting)


How to Make Velvety Chocolate Cake:

Start by preheating your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease three round cake pans with butter or line them with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy and well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until the mixture becomes smooth and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and instant coffee until well blended.

In another small bowl or cup, mix the yogurt with vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the yogurt mixture. Continue mixing until you get a smooth, creamy batter.

In a small bowl, combine the baking soda with vinegar. Let it fizz, then quickly stir it into the batter. Mix until fully incorporated.

Divide the batter evenly between the three prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

To assemble, place the first cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous layer of whipped cream on top. Add the second layer, more cream, then the final cake layer. Cover the entire cake—including the sides—with the remaining whipped cream.

Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving. This helps the cream set and enhances the cake’s flavor and texture.
