How to Make Apricot Pastry
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
-
Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the sugar, powdered milk, and salt. Mix gently.
-
Stir in the yeast.
-
Add the egg and butter, and begin mixing until combined.
-
Gradually pour in the milk and cinnamon, mixing continuously until a smooth, elastic dough forms.
Step 2: Roll and Fill
-
Lightly flour your work surface.
-
Roll out the dough using a rolling pin until it's a large rectangle.
-
Brush the edges of the dough with water to help seal later.
-
Sprinkle the dried apricots evenly over the surface (and optionally, the chopped chocolates).
-
Roll the dough tightly into a log (like a Swiss roll), then slice into even rings.
Step 3: Arrange and Proof
-
Grease a round baking dish with butter.
-
Place the dough rings side by side in the pan, creating a spiral or flower-like pattern.
-
Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm spot for about 35 minutes.
Step 4: Bake
-
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
Bake the pastry for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Step 5: Serve
-
Once cooled, transfer to serving plates.
-
Garnish with fresh berries like strawberries or raspberries, if desired.
-
Serve with a cup of tea or coffee for a cozy, sweet moment.
Optional Flavor Tip:
Adding chopped dark and white chocolate alongside the apricots creates a rich, gooey filling that perfectly balances the fruity tartness.
Enjoy this apricot pastry warm or at room temperature—it’s a charming dessert that combines tradition, nutrition, and sweet indulgence. Bon appétit!
