Chocolate & Cream Tortilla – Recipe & Preparation

Chocolate & Cream Tortilla – Recipe & Preparation

Chocolate and cream tortilla is a dessert with origins in Mexican cuisine, where it first appeared before spreading to Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries during the era of Spanish expansion.

A tortilla is a type of flatbread that can be filled with a variety of ingredients, both savory and sweet—chocolate being one of the most beloved fillings.

This dessert is popular across Spanish-speaking regions, and over time it has become a favorite treat in many households thanks to its simplicity and delicious taste. It is often prepared for family gatherings and casual receptions.

Beyond its flavor, this sweet has several benefits. It helps improve mood, stimulates the mind, and brings joy. It also supports heart health by widening blood vessels, which reduces the risk of clots and arteriosclerosis. Thanks to its fiber content, it aids digestion and prevents constipation. Moreover, it contains minerals like iron (for stronger blood), calcium (for healthy bones and protection against osteoporosis), zinc, sodium, and potassium—all essential for maintaining a healthy body.

Ingredients (Serves 4):

Chocolate & Cream Tortilla

  • 40 g yeast

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 kg flour

  • 8 g vanilla

  • 100 g sugar

  • 8 g salt

  • Nutella chocolate spread (as desired)

  • Chocolate ice cream (as desired)

  • 8 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts

  • Whipping cream (as desired)

Preparation Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix the water, vanilla, and yeast well. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes.

  2. In another bowl, combine sugar, salt, and flour. Gradually add the yeast mixture while stirring until a dough forms. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes.

  3. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, then cook the tortillas one by one in a hot skillet until lightly golden.

  4. To assemble: spread Nutella inside each tortilla, add a scoop of chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts. Roll it up and serve.

A soft tortilla wrap filled with creamy chocolate, ice cream, and nuts—simple, rich, and unforgettable.
