Croissant with Nut Filling
Croissants are among the most famous baked goods in the world, with their origins tracing back to French cuisine. The word croissant refers to their signature crescent shape. They are especially popular as a light breakfast option and can be filled with chocolate, cheese, or nuts.
Because croissants contain a generous amount of butter, they should be enjoyed in moderation. Each piece contains approximately:

½ cup water
Nut Filling Ingredients:
-
¼ cup butter
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
-
¼ cup flour
-
½ cup ground almonds and hazelnuts
For greasing the tray:
-
1 teaspoon soft butter
-
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
3 tablespoons brown sugar
Preparation of the Dough:
-
In a large bowl, mix the flour with salt, sugar, yeast, and eggs. Add the butter and start kneading.
-
Gradually pour in the milk while kneading, then add water little by little until the dough becomes soft and smooth.

Place the dough in a bowl, cover, and leave in a warm place to rise. Once doubled in size, cut into small balls and let them rest for 15 minutes.
Preparation of the Filling:
-
Mix the butter with brown sugar in a bowl. Add cinnamon, cocoa, flour, and ground nuts. Stir until combined.
Shaping the Croissants:
-
Roll out each dough ball into a square about 20 cm wide. Cut the square diagonally into two equal triangles.
-
Brush each triangle lightly with butter. Spread the nut mixture evenly along the wide end of the triangle.
-
Roll the dough tightly from the wide end to the tip, shaping it into a crescent. Seal the edges well.
-
Grease a baking tray with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar, then arrange the croissants on the tray.
-
Leave to rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
Baking:
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
Brush the croissants with the remaining butter and sprinkle the surface with a little cinnamon.
-
Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
