Ingredients:
-
3 medium eggs
-
2 cups water
-
1 cup pitted dates
-
1 cup flour
-
1 tsp grated orange zest
-
1 tbsp cornstarch
-
2 cans Nestlé cream
-
1 cup fine sugar
-
1 cup vegetable oil
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
-
1 tsp baking powder
-
1 tsp vanilla
Preparation Method:
-
Place the dates in a deep bowl, add the water, and blend with an electric mixer until smooth.
-
In another bowl, combine the date mixture with flour, orange zest, cornstarch, sugar, cream, cinnamon, baking powder, and vanilla. Mix with an electric mixer for about 3 minutes until well blended.
-
In a separate bowl, beat the oil and eggs together for 6–7 minutes until frothy. Gradually fold this mixture into the batter, mixing gently without overbeating.
-
Prepare a muffin tray with 16 small molds, lining each with paper cups. Spoon the batter into the molds, filling each about three-quarters full.
-
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Bake the pies for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
-
Serve the pies plain or with vanilla sauce (optional).
To prepare vanilla sauce:
Mix 1 can Nestlé cream with 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 cup water, 100 g sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens. Remove from heat, let cool, and serve chilled alongside the pies.
