Lazy Cake – Classic Recipe – How to Make Lazy Cake
Lazy Cake is one of the simplest and most delicious desserts you can prepare, and it doesn’t take much time at all.
This dessert is originally Western and is made with biscuits along with other ingredients. Some versions use eggs, while others leave them out entirely. It is the perfect choice for people who don’t enjoy baking complicated sweets or simply don’t have the time to prepare desserts that require a lot of effort.
One of the great things about Lazy Cake is that it stays fresh and edible for several days after being made.
Ingredients for Classic Lazy Cake:
-
1 pack of plain (unsweetened) biscuits
-
8 tablespoons cocoa powder
-
2 tablespoons powdered milk
-
3 tablespoons butter
-
2 eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla
-
½ cup white sugar (preferably fine)
-
1 cup water
How to Prepare Classic Lazy Cake:
-
In a deep saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely.
-
Add the sugar to the melted butter and stir until dissolved. Then add the vanilla, followed by the water gradually, whisking with a hand whisk until the mixture is well combined.
-
Slowly add the cocoa powder while stirring continuously until it blends smoothly with the mixture.
-
Leave the mixture over low heat until it thickens slightly, then remove it from the stove.
-
In another bowl, break the biscuits into relatively large chunks. Pour the cocoa-butter mixture over the biscuits and mix well until all the biscuit pieces are coated.
-
Transfer the mixture into a clear plastic wrap (nylon bag) and shape it into a log, rectangle, or triangle. You can also place the mixture into small molds if you prefer individual portions. Arrange the shapes in a Pyrex dish, then refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
-
Once chilled and firm, remove the Lazy Cake from the fridge and slice it. You can decorate it with Nutella, caramel sauce, grated chocolate, or fresh fruits according to your preference.
Serve it with a cup of coffee or enjoy it with fresh juice.
Bon Appétit!
