Ingredients:

Maamoul Tart with Cream

  • 6 slices white toast bread, crust removed and cut into cubes

  • 1 can Nestlé cream

  • 2 cups coarse semolina

  • 1 cup fine semolina

  • ¾ cup soft ghee (room temperature)

  • 1 cup fine sugar

  • 1 tsp ground mahlab (optional aromatic spice)

  • 1 tsp yeast

  • 1 tbsp rose water

  • 2 cups liquid milk

  • 1 tbsp orange blossom water

Preparation Method:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the coarse and fine semolina. Add ghee, sugar, mahlab, and yeast. Mix well until fully blended. Cover and let the mixture rest at room temperature for at least 4 hours.

  2. Meanwhile, prepare the filling: in a saucepan, mix milk, Nestlé cream, and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil, then add the bread cubes. Cook over low heat for 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes smooth and thick. Add orange blossom water, mix well, and set aside to cool completely.

  3. Once rested, add rose water and orange blossom water to the maamoul dough. Knead by hand until the dough becomes slightly firm and holds together.

  4. Divide the dough into small portions. Press each portion into the base and sides of mini tart molds. Bake in a preheated oven at 250°C (480°F) for 12–13 minutes, or until golden. Allow to cool completely.

  5. After cooling, spoon some of the chilled cream mixture into each tart shell.

  6. Decorate with fruit slices, toasted almonds, and a drizzle of honey.

Serve cold, ideally with a glass of fresh milk.

Enjoy this festive and creamy Maamoul TartSahtein!
