Ingredients:
-
300 g raw sesame seeds (unroasted)
-
300 g sunflower oil
-
¼ teaspoon salt
Preparation Steps:
-
Toast the sesame seeds:
Choose high-quality sesame seeds, as they are the main ingredient and determine the flavor of the tahini. The better the sesame quality, the better the taste. Use a non-stick pan (such as Tefal) over low heat. -
Once the pan is hot, add the sesame seeds and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until they turn a light golden color. The degree of toasting affects the color of the tahini—lightly toasted seeds give a lighter tahini, while darker seeds produce a darker color.
-
Cool and grind:
Once toasted to your liking, let the sesame seeds cool completely. Transfer them to a spice grinder and grind them as finely as possible. -
Blend into tahini:
Place the ground sesame into a blender, add the sunflower oil and salt, and blend for 5–7 minutes until smooth and creamy. -
Adjust consistency:
If you prefer thicker tahini, use less oil or increase the amount of sesame seeds.
With this simple method, you can make delicious, fresh, and budget-friendly tahini right in your kitchen.
Bon appétit!
