Apple Jam – Recipe and Preparation Method
Apple jam is one of the most delightful jams, much loved by people who enjoy having it regularly on their breakfast table.
This delicious jam is full of benefits because it is made from apples—one of the most famous and popular fruits in the world. Apples are known not only for their sweet taste but also for their great nutritional value. Eating an apple in the morning can almost feel like having a complete meal. Ancient civilizations even used apples for medicinal purposes—Greeks, for example, applied them to treat wounds.
Apples are considered “friendly” to the stomach because they help soften it and ease digestion. They are rich in nutrients that reduce joint pain, strengthen the heart and the brain, and improve overall health.
They also play a role in treating respiratory conditions, relieving both constipation and diarrhea. Apples help people with kidney and gallstone issues by breaking down stones, and they promote healthy, glowing skin by keeping it hydrated and preventing dryness. In addition, they support liver function and assist in weight management.
Ingredients for Apple Jam (Serves 20)
-
1 kilogram of apples
-
750 grams of sugar
-
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
-
2 liters of water
Method of Preparation
-
Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into medium-sized cubes. Place them in water with a little lemon juice to prevent discoloration.
-
Wash the apple cubes, place them in a pot, and cover completely with water.
-
Put the pot over high heat until it boils, then lower the heat and let the apples simmer until they are half-cooked.
-
Drain the apples, keeping one cup of the cooking water aside.
-
In the reserved water, dissolve the sugar, then place it over the heat until it boils, skimming off any foam that forms.
-
Add the lemon juice during cooking, and continue simmering until the mixture thickens and the apples are fully cooked.
-
Once done, pour the jam into thoroughly dry glass jars, let it cool completely, and serve it to your family to enjoy its distinctive flavor.
