Apricot Jam – Recipe & Preparation Method

Apricot jam is one of the most beloved and popular types of preserves, considered an essential item in many households.

Apricots ripen at the beginning of summer, but since their season is quite short, many people turn them into jam to enjoy their flavor for a longer time.

Ingredients (Serves 8)

Apricot Jam

 

  • 2 kilograms apricots

  • ½ kilogram sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or ½ teaspoon citric acid)


Preparation Method

  1. Prepare the apricots:
    Wash the apricots thoroughly, remove the pits, and place them in a pot. Add the sugar on top and leave for about 6 hours.

  2. Cook the jam:
    After the resting time, place the pot over low heat. Stir continuously and add the lemon juice or citric acid.

  3. Remove foam:
    Skim off any foam that forms on the surface. Keep cooking and stirring until the sugar dissolves completely and the jam thickens.

  4. Cool and sun-dry:
    Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, then cover with a clean cloth and place under strong sunlight for one week.

  5. Store:
    Transfer the jam into completely dry glass jars. Seal tightly and store until serving.
