Budget-Friendly Cheesecake – The Economical Recipe

Budget-Friendly Cheesecake – The Economical Recipe

Cheesecake is a delicious dessert that traces its roots back to Greece, but today it has become popular all over the world. Every country gives it its own twist, especially in the top layer. Traditionally, cheesecake has three layers: a biscuit base, a creamy cheese filling, and a decorative topping that can vary depending on taste.

It’s well known that cheesecake ingredients can be quite expensive, so here’s a simple and budget-friendly version that keeps the flavor but saves on cost.

Ingredients

Budget-Friendly Cheesecake

Serves 4–5 people

First Layer (Base):

  • 6 packs plain tea biscuits (such as Digestive or similar)

  • A little milk

  • 1 tablespoon ghee or butter

Second Layer (Filling):

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 cup plain yogurt

  • 1 piece soft cheese (such as cream cheese or processed cheese slice)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 small packets powdered milk (Nido or similar)

Third Layer (Topping):

Preparation

Step 1: The Base

  • Crush the biscuits finely in a food processor.

  • Add a splash of milk and 1 tablespoon of ghee/butter.

Step 2: The Filling

  • Pour the mixture over the biscuit base.

  • Place under the oven broiler (top heat only) for about 5 minutes, just until the surface turns slightly golden (do not overbake).

  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Step 3: The Topping

  • In a small saucepan, combine the caramel packet, instant coffee, and cold milk.

  • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

  • Gently pour the caramel-coffee topping over the cheesecake filling.

Step 4: Chill and Serve
