Carrot Jam – Recipe and Preparation Method

Carrot jam is one of the tastiest and most loved jams, appreciated by many people thanks to the wide range of benefits it offers.

Carrots are vegetables that energize the body, providing warmth and vitality during the winter season. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals that the body needs to flush out toxins.

Carrots play a protective role against cancer and may even support treatment of this dangerous disease. In addition, they contain beta-carotene, which acts as vitamin A and strengthens eyesight. Carrots also help with intestinal problems such as diarrhea, thanks to their natural oils that kill harmful bacteria in the digestive system.

Ingredients for Carrot Jam

Carrot Jam

  • One kilogram of carrots

  • One kilogram of white sugar

  • Peel of one tangerine (mandarin orange)

  • One cup of water

  • Two tablespoons of lemon juice

Method of Preparation

  1. Wash the carrots thoroughly, then grate them into long strips.

  2. Cut the peel of the tangerine and mix it with the grated carrots.

  3. In a large bowl, layer the carrots and sugar alternately—one layer of carrots, one layer of sugar—until all the ingredients are used.

  4. Cover the bowl and let it sit for about half a day, allowing the sugar to dissolve and release carrot juice.

  5. After that, transfer the mixture into a deep pot and add the cup of water.

  6. Place the pot on low heat until the sugar completely dissolves, then raise the heat slightly until the mixture comes to a boil.

  7. Stir continuously as the jam cooks so the carrots soften and the mixture thickens. This process takes about 30 minutes. Skim off any foam that appears on the surface.

  8. Add the lemon juice and let the jam simmer for another 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.

  9. Once cooled, pour the jam into completely dry glass jars, seal tightly, and store until serving. Your family can then enjoy its delicious taste whenever they like.
