Cherry Jam – Recipe & Preparation Method

Cherry jam is one of the most delicious and nutritious types of preserves, loved by many for its rich and refreshing flavor.

Cherries are a summer fruit grown widely around the world. The cherry tree is tall—reaching up to eight meters—and is considered one of the long-living fruit trees.

Ingredients

Cherry Jam

 

  • 1 kilogram cherries

  • ½ kilogram sugar

  • 1 small cup water

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Note: You may increase the amount of cherries, but always keep the sugar at half the weight of the cherries.


Preparation Method

  1. Prepare the cherries:
    Wash the cherries thoroughly, remove the pits, and let them dry.

  2. Make the syrup:
    In a deep pot, add the sugar, water, and lemon juice. Place over high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts boiling.

  3. Cook the jam:
    Once boiling, reduce the heat. When bubbles appear, add the cherries and let them simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring continuously.

  4. Cool and store:
    Remove the pot from heat and allow the jam to cool. Once cooled, transfer it into completely dry glass jars, seal tightly, and store in the refrigerator until serving.
