Crispy Fried Shrimp – Recipe & Cooking Method
Seafood always has a special place at the table—flavorful, healthy, and impossible to resist. Today’s recipe is Crispy Fried Shrimp, a quick and easy dish that delivers crunch, spice, and tenderness in every bite. It’s best served with seafood soup and a fresh side salad. Let’s get cooking!
Ingredients (Serves 4)
-
Fresh shrimp (prawns)
-
Salt and black pepper
-
Spices: cumin, dried coriander, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder
-
Fresh lemon juice
-
Cornstarch
-
2 eggs (beaten)
-
Breadcrumbs (fine, ground)
-
Vegetable oil for deep frying
-
Fresh parsley or cilantro (for garnish)
-
Lemon slices (for serving)
Preparation
Step 1 – Marinate the Shrimp
-
In a small bowl, mix the spices: cumin, coriander, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
-
Add salt, black pepper, and lemon juice, and stir well to form a seasoning mix.
-
Clean and peel the shrimp, leaving the tail shell for a better presentation. Make a small slit along the back for the flavors to soak in.
-
Toss the shrimp in the spice marinade, coating each piece thoroughly. Let it rest while preparing the coating.
Step 2 – Coat the Shrimp
-
Prepare three bowls: one with cornstarch, one with beaten eggs seasoned with a pinch of black pepper, and one with breadcrumbs.
-
Take each shrimp, coat it first in cornstarch (shake off excess), then dip in the beaten egg, and finally roll in breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the coating sticks well.
-
Place the coated shrimp on a tray until all are ready for frying.
Step 3 – Fry the Shrimp
-
Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan until hot.
-
Fry the shrimp in batches (4–5 pieces at a time), making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
-
Cook until golden brown and crispy, then remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
Arrange the crispy fried shrimp on a serving platter, garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, and add lemon slices for extra flavor. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, soup, or salad.
✨ Preparation time: 30–40 minutes.
