Lentils are ranked among the top five healthiest foods in the world. They are used in many delicious dishes and soups, one of the most popular being lentil soup.
This soup is made primarily from lentils, with the addition of other ingredients like onion, tomato, garlic, potato, and carrot. Today, we’ll show you how to prepare it.
Ingredients
Serves 4–5 people
-
½ kilogram lentils
-
1 onion
-
1 tomato
-
2 garlic cloves
-
½ potato
-
1 carrot
-
Some water
Preparation Method
-
Sort through the lentils carefully to remove any impurities, then wash them several times.
-
In a pot, add water and the washed lentils.
-
Add the onion, tomato, garlic, potato, and carrot. Place the pot on the stove and bring to a boil.
-
Allow the mixture to cook until the lentils are tender. You can test by tasting one lentil — if it’s soft, it’s done; if still hard, it needs more time.
-
Once cooked, remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Blend the mixture in a blender until smooth and homogeneous. Repeat the process with the remaining quantity if needed.
-
Strain the blended soup to remove any leftover fibers from the vegetables.
-
Return the smooth soup to the pot. Add seasonings such as salt, black pepper, cumin, and 1 tablespoon of ghee. Bring it back to a boil.
-
Serve hot in a soup bowl.
Bon appétit!
