Orange Jam – Recipe and Preparation Method
Orange jam is one of the most delightful jams, often enjoyed in winter as it provides the body with warmth and plenty of energy.
This jam is made from fresh oranges, a fruit packed with vitamins and nutrients, which are the source of most of the jam’s benefits.
Orange jam contains vitamin C, a good amount of calories, and sodium. It supports gum health, helps maintain strong blood vessels, and prevents skin dryness—especially in winter.
It also benefits the stomach and intestines, acting as a natural laxative to prevent constipation. It improves iron absorption, and its fiber content helps reduce cholesterol levels.
Thanks to its high calcium content, orange jam strengthens teeth and bones, helps regulate blood pressure, and prevents it from rising. It also keeps the skin youthful and radiant and reduces the risk of strokes due to its antioxidants.
Ingredients for Orange Jam (Serves 8)
-
1 kilogram of chopped oranges
-
2 cups of water
-
1 cup of lemon juice
-
1 kilogram of sugar
-
1 cup of orange juice
Method of Preparation
-
Wash the oranges, peel them, cut them into small pieces, and remove the seeds.
-
Place the orange pieces in a deep pot, add enough water to cover them, and let them soak for 2 hours.
-
Add the orange juice to the mixture, then place the pot on low heat for about 30 minutes.
-
Add the sugar and lemon juice, stirring continuously until the mixture starts boiling.
-
Once it reaches boiling point, let it simmer for about 15 minutes, skimming off any foam that forms.
-
When the jam thickens, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool.
-
Transfer the cooled jam into thoroughly dry glass jars, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dry place until serving.
Your family can then enjoy its rich, refreshing taste at the breakfast table.
