Qatayef with Nutella – Recipe & Preparation

Qatayef with Nutella – Recipe & Preparation

Nutella is one of the world’s most beloved chocolates—loved by kids and adults alike. Originally created as a spread for bread, it has since made its way into countless desserts, pastries, and cakes. In Egypt, Nutella has even become a popular filling for Qatayef, the classic stuffed pancake served during Ramadan. Traditionally filled with nuts, Qatayef takes on a whole new twist when paired with creamy Nutella.

Today, we’ll prepare this quick and irresistible Ramadan treat—easy enough to make at home and guaranteed to impress your family.

Ingredients (Serves 6–7)

Qatayef with Nutella

  • 500 g ready-made Qatayef

  • Nutella (as much as needed for filling)

  • Oil for frying

  • Crushed nuts for garnish (pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, or whatever is available)

Preparation

First Method – Fried Nutella Qatayef

  1. Make sure the Qatayef are warm (not cold), so they seal properly.

  2. Place a small spoonful of Nutella inside each piece, add a sprinkle of crushed nuts, and press firmly to seal the edges. Be careful not to overfill, or the chocolate may leak out.

  3. Deep fry the stuffed Qatayef in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.

  4. Serve warm, garnished with extra nuts on top.

Second Method – Open Cone Style

  1. Fold each Qatayef into a cone shape, sealing the bottom but leaving the top open.

  2. Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.

  3. Using a spoon, fill each cone with Nutella to your liking.

  4. Top with chopped nuts and serve warm with tea or coffee after iftar.

✨ These Nutella Qatayef are crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and bursting with flavor—a modern twist on a traditional Ramadan favorite.
